This vintage black cotton furoshiki comes from a kimono specialty shop and dates from the late Showa period. Its delicate pattern, reminiscent of botanical forms, gives a small practical cloth the quiet refinement of a traditional Japanese textile.

A furoshiki is used in Japan to wrap, carry, and present objects. This one was made for everyday usefulness, but its deep black ground and restrained nature-inspired motif make it just as easy to live with as an interior accent or a piece of textile design.

Use it for gift wrapping, carrying small belongings, displaying on a shelf or wall, or adding a subtle Japanese touch to a room. It is also a useful size for creative remaking and upcycling projects. Japanese vintage textiles like this are increasingly appreciated by collectors and makers in Japan and overseas because they offer cultural detail without the sameness of mass-produced decor.

One piece only. This is a genuine vintage textile, and no second example exists. Once it is gone, it will not return to the store.
