This is an authentic U.S. Army officer jacket produced and worn during the 1940s, throughout the Second World War period.

After the war, this piece was brought to Japan, where it is believed to have been supplied to the National Police Reserve or the early Self-Defense Forces, or released into the civilian market.

During the immediate postwar years, Japan faced a severe shortage of clothing. Large quantities of surplus U.S. military garments entered the country through occupation forces and aid supplies, where they were repurposed as official uniforms, workwear, and daily clothing. As a result, many garments underwent functional modifications and specification changes.

The customized change-button system, cord-tied buttons, and additional internal drawcord seen on this jacket are considered practical alterations made during postwar Japan, reflecting the harsh realities of the time.

Buttons have been replaced and are mismatched, with visible rust.

The flap shows wear and deformation. The button beneath the flap is missing (a spare button will be included).

The epaulette button is missing, and it seems to have been sewn afterward, but part of the stitching is missing.

There are stains, holes, and areas of missing stitching throughout.
