This jacket was made for a U.S. Army officer in the 1940s and worn through the Second World War. After the war it came to Japan — brought by occupation forces or through aid supplies — and was modified for use in postwar Japan, either as uniform issue for the National Police Reserve or released into the civilian market during a period when clothing was scarce and American military surplus was the most durable thing available.

The modifications are the story: change-button system, cord-tied buttons, internal drawcord. These alterations were practical decisions made in postwar Japan, not by the U.S. Army. They make this jacket a document of two specific historical moments simultaneously — wartime American manufacture and postwar Japanese improvisation. There is one.

Multiple custom modifications throughout. Buttons replaced and mismatched, with visible rust. Flap shows wear and deformation. Button beneath the flap is missing (spare included). Epaulette button missing; stitching partially undone. Stains, holes, and areas of missing stitching throughout.

No cleaning or restoration performed. Vintage odor may be present. Any damage, odor, or deterioration after washing or wearing is not eligible for refund or exchange. Please purchase only if you fully understand vintage military garment conditions.
