This indigo-dyed furoshiki features visible sashiko stitching along the edges and striking patchwork repairs in the center.
It is a piece that was once used in daily life around 100 years ago, during Japan’s Taisho to early Showa era.

When the fabric tore, it was patched. When it wore thin, it was stitched.
These traces of mending are not flaws—they are what make this cloth so deeply compelling.

The fine sashiko along the edges was done both to reinforce and to decorate.
The central patched area, with its unintentional composition, holds a strong visual presence that embodies the wabi-sabi aesthetic.
