Hawaii Shoji made these in Japan in the 1980s or 1990s and then they sat in a warehouse, unused, with original tags, until now. Deadstock wool trousers from a domestic Japanese brand of this era are not easy to find — most were worn, altered, or discarded. This pair wasn't. The V-cut vent at the back waistband, the YKK EFLON zipper, the classic tapered silhouette with room through the hips and thighs: these are the details of a garment made when Japanese manufacturing still treated trousers as a serious object.

The wool is 100%. The fit is the kind that works with a jacket, a knit, or a tucked-in shirt — nothing about it requires a specific era to function. It just requires someone willing to wear actual wool.
