This is a vintage Japanese haori jacket, likely tailored between the early and mid Showa era.

The outer fabric features a subtle striped cotton pattern, creating a calm and composed impression. In contrast, the lining boasts a bold and playful crazy-patterned design. When worn, the lining peeks out during movement, adding an artistic and expressive touch—it's a piece where even the hidden side tells a story.

Originally developed in the Edo period as part of men's formalwear, the haori later became popular daily wear for both men and women in the Meiji era. While it was initially worn for warmth and to protect clothing, it evolved into a fashion item over time. A culture of decorative linings emerged, turning haori into garments where hidden beauty mattered.
