In the farming villages of Tohoku, every scrap of cloth had a purpose. The exterior is stripe. The interior holds something else entirely — different fabrics, coexisting in silence. Multiple cloths, sewn together on the inside of a single haori.

A haori is a traditional Japanese outer garment worn over kimono. Its open-front silhouette is unlike any Western jacket or coat. The word that suits it best is not "wear" — it is "drape."

What makes this haori exceptional is not only the exterior. Turn it over — and another world opens up.

Multiple fabrics sewn together into a crazy pattern. The longer you look, the more it pulls you in. I know no word for it other than cool.

This structure — what we call a crazy pattern — was not born from a designer's vision. It was born from the ethics of everyday life. Long before modern fashion claimed it as a concept, the farmers of Tohoku were already living it.

The world is catching on.
