Indigo stripe is one of the most enduring patterns in Japanese textile history — worn by farmers, craftsmen, and merchants across centuries, refined through repetition into something that reads as both ancient and completely contemporary. This early Showa era men's haori carries that pattern in cotton: lightweight, soft, and aged to a depth that no new fabric can replicate.

The lining is exceptional. Where the outer fabric is restrained — calm indigo stripes, quiet rhythm — the lining adds a layer of visual interest that reveals itself only when the haori is removed or held open. This is ura-masari: the Japanese aesthetic of being better on the inside.

Wear it over a white tee and denim. Wear it over a hoodie on cooler days. The open front and unstructured cut mean it works as a layer without demanding attention — it simply makes whatever you're wearing more interesting.

Early Showa cotton haori in this condition are increasingly difficult to find. Collectors and slow fashion enthusiasts in Europe and North America actively seek them out.

One piece only. This is a genuine vintage garment, and no second example exists. Once it is gone, it will not return to the store.
