This is a single piece of zoukin that supported family life during the Mid-Showa period.
In those days, it was common practice to mend torn fabric, patch it up, and use it until the very end with great care.

This item uses indigo-dyed kasuri cotton fabric reinforced with sashiko stitching, allowing you to feel the “life” of the cloth.

The size is somewhat large at approximately 34cm × 51.5cm (13.4in × 20.3in).

Although it has fulfilled its role as a daily utility item, its rich and nostalgic appearance makes it perfect for decorating walls as interior art or framing as a piece of art.

It can also be repurposed as material for remaking into pouches, covers, or small fabric goods, giving it a new life.

You will notice patches, repairs, damage, and the bleeding indigo dye — a warmth and quiet strength that cannot be reproduced by machines.

The mindset of “using fabric until the very end” is rarely seen nowadays.
