■ Product Details ■

・Era: Early to Mid Showa Period (approx. 1920s–1950s)
・Material: Cotton (Indigo-dyed Kasuri)

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Deep indigo blue, with the quiet white of kasuri floating through it.

The pattern is not printed. It is woven.
Each thread dyed individually before the cloth is made —
so that the design only appears in the weaving itself.
This is kasuri. This is what makes it irreplaceable.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

In the early to mid Showa era, children in Japan's
rural villages and townhouses wore kimono like this
as everyday clothing.

Made to be durable. Made to be beautiful.
Made to last.

Real cotton. Real indigo.
From a time before synthetic fibers,
before fast fashion,
before disposable clothing existed.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

In recent years, indigo kasuri kimono have attracted
serious attention from vintage collectors and textile enthusiasts
across Europe and North America.

As Japan vintage continues to gain global recognition,
well-preserved kasuri pieces are becoming
increasingly rare and increasingly sought after.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

This is a children's kimono — compact in size,
but wearable by petite women or slim-framed individuals
as a haori-style jacket or robe.

It is also an exceptional material for handmade and upcycling projects.
Indigo-dyed cotton of this age and character is sought after
by makers and designers worldwide —
for garments, bags, pouches, accessories, and interior goods.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Not consumed. Passed on.
Not mass-produced. Made to last.

In an era that is rediscovering slow fashion and slow living,
this kimono — born in Showa-era Japan —
is one answer to the question of what clothing can mean.
