This Noragi jacket was made around the early Showa period in Japan. The front features indigo-dyed stripes in a calm, subdued blue tone. The back is pieced together with checked and striped fabrics, while the sleeves are made of solid indigo cloth, creating a unique crazy patchwork pattern.

Even among older, home-sewn Noragi jackets, this piece is exceptionally rare, combining individuality and refinement in one garment.

Noragi jackets were everyday workwear in Japanese rural villages. While functionality for labor was paramount, households would piece together available fabrics, resulting in each jacket having its own pattern and color combination.
