The outer fabric is calm — a quiet striped pattern in the restrained palette of early-to-mid Showa Japan. But open this haori, and the lining tells a different story: bold, patterned, and unmistakably expressive. This is the haori tradition at its most interesting, the principle of ura-masari, better on the inside.

This piece has no haori-himo loops — an unusual specification that makes it even more wearable as a contemporary jacket. No cords to attach, no ceremony required. Just wear it open, as you would any great unstructured outer layer.

The fabric has genuine atmosphere — the kind that comes only from decades of existence, not from any manufacturing process. It works as outerwear, as a styling layer over a tee and denim, or as remake and handmade material for those who work with vintage textiles.

One piece only. This is a genuine vintage garment, and no second example exists. Once it is gone, it will not return to the store.
