Seibido published this in 1998. The premise is straightforward: real interiors, real antiques, real people who have been living with Japanese ceramics and wooden furniture and old textiles long enough to stop thinking about them as objects and start thinking about them as rooms. The result is a visual reference that holds up because it was never trying to be fashionable — it was trying to show how these things actually look when they are actually used.
Out-of-print. Rich in photography. Japanese text throughout. The kind of book that interior designers, textile collectors, and anyone working in the wabi-sabi space keep looking for and rarely find in this condition.
