Women of the household chose their cloth, threaded their needles, and stitched together the futon cover that would hold their family's rest through the seasons. This black-ground check pattern was born from that quiet, nameless daily life, and carried decades of sleep within its weave.

When its life as a futon cover came to an end, it was carefully unstitched — and released back into the world as a single piece of cloth. There are holes. There are stains. There are missing stitches. Each one is proof that this fabric was truly lived with.
