Even when its original purpose ends, the beauty of a cloth remains.

Against deep indigo, white angular shapes alternate with flowing kasuri patterns. Fine red lines add accents, creating a rhythmic geometric design. In a cloth once used in everyday life, a textile design worth looking at anew lives on. Kasuri is a Japanese ikat technique in which yarns are resist-dyed before weaving, giving the motifs their softly blurred edges.

This cotton cloth was once a Japanese apron, dating to approximately the mid-Showa period. Its ties have been cut off, but a pocket remains at the center. Part of the pocket fabric is missing, and the cloth has tears and stains. Even so, the reason to choose this piece lies in the pattern itself: the interplay of indigo and kasuri.

Enjoy it not as an apron, but as a beautiful piece of Japanese vintage fabric. Even cloths with the same pattern develop different expressions through use. This piece is for those who appreciate both its atmosphere, including the damage, and its textile design.
