A single sheet of Japanese textile history, ready for its next life.

This Japanese vintage cotton textile originally served as a futon cover in the Tohoku region during the early to mid Showa period, approximately the 1920s to 1950s.

After years of use as bedding, the original household carefully unpicked the cover and preserved it as one continuous sheet of fabric rather than discarding it. That quiet act of reuse is part of the textile's story: a useful material was valued, taken apart by hand, and prepared to be used again.

The plaid cotton carries the evidence of long use, including natural fading, small holes, fabric slippage, and visible repair marks. These irregularities are not something mass production can reproduce. They are the texture, patience, and memory of an everyday Japanese textile.

Its generous 129 × 226 cm size makes it suitable for garment making, patchwork, boro-inspired work, interior use, photography, or other creative projects. It is also a compelling material for slow fashion and intentional living, offering an alternative to disposable, fast-fashion production.
