This noragi was made during the early to mid Showa period and is crafted from cotton fabric.

The exterior features striped cotton textile, while the reverse side is constructed from multiple cotton fabrics pieced together in what is commonly referred to as a crazy patchwork composition.

This patchwork was not created as a decorative design. Rather, it is the result of making full use of available cloth within everyday life at the time. That necessity-driven process has produced an unintentional yet highly distinctive visual character.

The garment is constructed with miyatsuguchi—traditional side openings under the arms—and is entirely hand-sewn.

The texture unique to aged cotton, the methods used to join different fabrics, and the layered structure built purely for function all convey a sense of beauty that is absent from modern mass-produced clothing.

There are areas of damage and fabric deterioration present.

However, these are natural changes that have occurred over time. By choosing to reinforce or repair the garment while wearing it, one may continue the original role of this piece through a contemporary perspective.

This is not clothing made for decoration or fashion trends, but cloth that was continually required within daily life. Including the reverse-side crazy patchwork born from such circumstances, this noragi possesses a strong presence as a one-of-a-kind piece.
