~ A Note to Our Customers ~
Please read our FAQ before placing your order.
A garment that lived with the soil and sweat of a Tohoku farming village.
In the early Showa era, when neither chemical dyes nor ready-made clothing had reached rural Japan, this noragi was sewn by hand in an ordinary household — cut from indigo-dyed striped fabric that someone worked hard to obtain.
A striped body. A solid indigo collar.
That combination is no accident——
The unbroken indigo at the neckline creates a quiet tension, a dignity.
Not decoration. Inevitable design.
The sleeve construction is unlike anything in Western clothing — shaped by an entirely different logic, a different understanding of how a garment should move with the body.
No contemporary designer, however celebrated, could arrive at this.
It belongs to its time. That is precisely why it is irreplaceable.

■ Live With This Piece
─────────────────────────
· As an outer layer: Throw it on and your entire look gains depth, history, and a story no other garment can tell.
· As a vintage mix: Pair with denim or workwear and you have something that exists nowhere else.
· Belted or tied at the waist: A distinctly Japanese silhouette that feels both ancient and entirely now.
· As remake material: The texture of this indigo cotton can be reborn as a bag, patchwork, or interior fabric.

Alongside BORO, Japanese vintage textiles are drawing serious attention from collectors, fashion insiders, and institutions in New York, Paris, and London.
Among them, noragi that were actually worn in the fields — not preserved, but lived in — occupy a category of their own: archive-grade pieces sought by creators worldwide.
There will never be another one like this.
This is the only garment of its kind that Showa-era rural Japan left behind.
※ Other items worn by the model and props used in photography are not included.
