Noragi is, simply put, the work jacket worn by those who worked the fields.

Not designed. Not branded. Made from whatever fabric was at hand — each piece cut and sewn by an unnamed person in an unnamed household, for someone they cared about. The outer shell combines different fabrics for the body and collar. Flip it over, and a stunning crazy pattern lining reveals itself.

No corporate agenda. No market research. Just the quiet daily life of rural Japan — a life that can never be recreated.

Today, noragi is drawing serious attention in the vintage markets of Europe and North America. The cultural weight of Japan vintage workwear, the avant-garde construction of crazy pattern on both sides, the slow fashion context — none of these elements were planned. They are the accidental genius of necessity. And this one will never exist again.

Throw it over a white tee on an over-air-conditioned afternoon. Wear it to the weekend garden. Drape it on the porch of an old farmhouse. One piece. One story.

Styling

Works perfectly thrown open over a white t-shirt and dark trousers. When a monochrome outfit needs one element of life, this noragi is the answer. Pairs naturally with denim or wide-leg pants.

Condition

Overall color variation and uneven fading are present throughout — this is not a flaw, it is the character of a garment that has lived. Additional condition notes: partial stitch loss in several areas, some fabric slippage, localized damage and soiling, bleach-like discoloration on the collar, missing stitching at the Miyatsuguchi side opening, soiling on the sleeve lining, and some loose stitching throughout.

This is a vintage piece. Please review all images carefully before purchasing.

We have laundered this item twice. A faint vintage scent may remain. Any changes in condition resulting from washing or wear after purchase — including damage or returning odor — are not grounds for return or exchange. All sales final.
