DESCRIPTION

A mid-Showa era noragi work jacket in a rare plaid pattern, elevated by an indigo-dyed collar — quiet in character, yet deeply striking.

Hand-stitched from cotton, this noragi was never made for fashion. It was made for life — worn through farmwork and the rhythms of daily labor. That honest origin is exactly what makes it compelling today.

The indigo-dyed collar is the defining feature of this piece. Rich in depth, it will continue to evolve beautifully with wear, developing the kind of patina that only comes with time and use.

The lining holds an unexpected story: it is fashioned from a tenugui (traditional Japanese hand towel) commemorating a visit to the National Diet Building. A quiet testament to the resourcefulness of the era — nothing wasted, everything repurposed.

Found in the Tohoku region of Japan. Condition is good, with plenty of character left to develop.
