This is a plain indigo-dyed noragi dating from the mid-Showa period.

Among noragi, which are more commonly seen with patterns, stripes, or kasuri designs, examples without any decoration are relatively rare. This piece carries a quiet and restrained presence characteristic of such plain garments.

At first glance, the indigo color does not appear vivid. However, areas of fraying reveal clear traces of indigo dye, indicating that the color has gradually softened and settled over time, allowing the texture of the cotton itself to come forward.

The material is cotton.

The garment shows the natural texture that comes from repeated everyday use as workwear, reflecting clothing born purely from practical needs.

There are no sashiko stitches or repair marks. It is a noragi that stands on its own without added decoration or narrative, expressing an understated beauty through subtraction.

With tubular sleeves and no miyatsuguchi, it is easy to incorporate into modern styling. It layers naturally with both Japanese and Western clothing.

This piece is recommended for its folk-art value, material appeal, and the versatility unique to a plain design.
