This is a late Showa-era Japanese cotton textile preserved in bolt form — black ground with red and white embroidery arranged in a rhythmic pattern across the length. The embroidery adds depth and dimension to a plain-woven cotton base without losing the material's fundamental simplicity. At 388 cm long, there is enough here to work with seriously.
