A small piece of Showa-era Japan, where an auspicious pattern turns an everyday cloth into a keepsake.
This vintage Japanese tenugui is a thin cotton hand towel, a practical textile used in Japanese daily life for generations. Dating from the 1980s, it features a traditional auspicious pattern associated with celebration, good fortune, and the visual language of Japanese gift culture.
The compact size and soft cotton make it easy to live with. Use it as a hand towel, hang it as a small textile artwork, bring it into a shop or studio display, or repurpose it for a handmade project. It is a simple object, but its pattern carries the atmosphere of Showa-era Japan.
Japanese vintage tenugui are increasingly valued by overseas collectors, designers, and makers for their practical beauty and cultural context. This is a one-of-a-kind vintage textile, and once it sells, this individual piece will not be available again.
