Five crests — placed at both chest panels, both sleeves, and the center back. This is a Montsuki Haori of the highest ceremonial rank, once worn for weddings, funerals, and formal occasions. After many years, it has been found.

The outer fabric is a deep, pure black silk. And the lining — the lining is what makes this piece truly special. Revealed only in the moment the haori is removed, it embodies the quiet sophistication of Japanese aesthetic sensibility.

It wears naturally into contemporary styling. Layer it over denim or wide-leg trousers as an outer jacket, or wear it as intended within a traditional ensemble. This is a piece made to be kept for a long time.

Unlike mass-produced modern kimono, this was crafted by a skilled kimono artisan — a level of quality that reflects the era in which it was made.
