A deep indigo textile with nearly a century of quiet colour and use.

This vintage Japanese indigo-dyed cotton dates from the Taisho to early Showa period, approximately the 1910s to 1930s. Two panels have been sewn together to create a long textile with a rich deep-blue tone, firm cotton body, and softened handfeel.

The fabric's natural fading and gentle surface are the result of its life as a household cloth. Its colour has depth that is difficult to reproduce today, while the joined panels and small signs of wear preserve the practical history of the original material.

At approximately 65.5 × 141 cm, the proportions make it especially versatile. Wear it as a stole or scarf, cut it for bags and accessories, or use it as a table runner, interior textile, patchwork material, or part of a handmade remake.
