This is a striped cotton andon hakama (skirt-style hakama) made during the mid-Showa period in Japan. Unlike the umanori hakama (divided riding-style), the andon hakama features a skirt-like silhouette without a central split.

This particular piece was made for children, making it a small size. Today, rather than being worn as clothing, it is best appreciated as vintage fabric for handmade projects or remake material.

In recent years, Japanese vintage textiles have gained worldwide recognition, highly valued by fashion designers and creators across Europe, the U.S., and beyond. Condition

The back panel contains a thick cardboard-like insert that has become warped. It appears this was originally attached only with glue (not sewn), and over time the glue has detached, exposing the inner material.

As this is an old item, please refrain from purchasing if you are not comfortable with the characteristics of vintage textiles.

The garment has been washed twice by us, but it retains the distinctive scent of old fabric. Please understand that after your purchase, additional washing or wearing may cause damage or the scent to return; refunds or exchanges cannot be accepted for such issues.
