This is a vintage cotton fabric from the early to mid Showa era. The deep black-check pattern is rare, and the aged cotton exudes the characteristic softness and warmth developed over time.

Originally used as futon fabric, some areas have been repaired or patched, and the overlapping layers and stitching create a subtle, unique texture. Small holes, wear, and repair marks from aging contribute to the distinct character and charm of this fabric.

Vintage Japanese cotton like this is highly valued overseas as "Japanese Boro" or "Vintage Japanese Fabric", and is sought after for art pieces, remake projects, and creative textile uses. The calm tones of the black-check pattern combined with hand-stitched repairs produce a quiet yet powerful beauty.
