This is a vintage Japanese cotton hanten (short work jacket) from the late Showa to early Heisei era, featuring a unique handwritten inscription on the collar that reads “最上川舟唄” ("Mogami River Boat Song")—a well-known folk song from Yamagata Prefecture.

The handwritten text is inscribed on a separate piece of fabric stitched over the original collar, adding a one-of-a-kind character to this piece. It is believed to have been worn during local festivals or cultural events related to the Mogami River's rich boating traditions.

Made of soft, breathable cotton, this hanten is comfortable to wear as-is, and is also highly recommended as a material for remake projects. Its cultural background and vintage charm make it a favorite among antique textile enthusiasts and DIY creators alike.
