Noragi jackets are traditional Japanese workwear worn by farmers and craftsmen from the late Edo period through the Showa era. Designed for daily work, they combine practical functionality with a unique Japanese sense of aesthetics.

This piece is a cotton noragi jacket made in the Tohoku region during the early to mid Showa period. It features subdued yet expressive indigo stripes. (The reverse side is not indigo-dyed.)

The straight tubular sleeves provide ease of movement, making it effortless to incorporate into modern casual outfits.

The sturdy cotton fabric appears to have seen very little wear, giving it a firm texture. This also means it will develop a beautiful patina over time.

The simple, functional stitching characteristic of noragi showcases subtle variations from handwork, making each jacket unique.
